TwerGut one years ago, that dense smoke rolled through the streets of Moscow. The capital city could not look from one to the other side of the river Moscow, the city was in a state of emergency. Cause fires were outside the city gates: Week Long Torfflächen heat had burned. The dried Moore could hardly clear.

For Vladimir Nikitin, the fires were a fluke - even if he does not formulate it that way. The 51-year-old is managing director of the combustion energy company Tver, the turf will make socially acceptable as a fuel. "Peat is indispensable for the energy security of Russia and Europe," says Nikitin. The fuel is cleaner and cheaper than coal in Russia always incur new deposits. Therefore will Nikitin peat briquettes in a big way to process - and cast as an alternative to coal and natural gas to market.

The potential of organic sediments is huge. In Russia alone, especially around Moscow, store about 175 billion tons of peat. The Russian government wants to promote the processing. The Energy Department experts tinker with a package of tax cuts aimed at making investments in attractive Torfgewerbe: The Moore could leased free of charge, interest expense paid in the commodity sector and the hefty profits tax will be reduced. In the energy strategy of the Russian government are expected to quadruple the Torferzeugung annually by 2020 to eight million tonnes.

The political leadership will therefore reduce the gas consumption at home: the fuel is too valuable for the internal market. Sold off its gas monopoly Gazprom in Russia for a song, however, obtained abroad, the company fantastic margins. So is the domestic consumption should be kept as low as possible, especially as Russia before the latest financial crisis now and then struggled to meet the domestic needs in severe winters. The burning of peat is indeed dirty - but environmental aspects shear in Moscow just a few.
